Nasarawa crisis: 11 communities get financial relief
Eleven communities, recently displaced by the weeklong hostilities between farmers and herdsmen as well as other groups, have received financial mobilization from Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who handed them N500,000 each to resettle.
Many parts of Bassa in Agwada Development Area and Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State were affected when Fulani and Eggon people clashed. Dozens were reported to have been killed in the crisis which displaced thousands. Al-Makura, who reiterated his administration’s readiness and will to checkmate and curtail any act of disturbance in the affected areas, said their condition became imperative to bring succour to the affected inhabitants of the communities. He was in Garaku where he addressed displaced persons in camps.
The communities were Bassa, Yelwa, Agwanoje, Rutu, Ruwa Doma, Angwan-Gindan, Angwan Mada, Akure, Sarkoto and Angwan-Lafia. He said N5.5 million given to the affected communities would bring immediate relieve to inhabitants, pointing out that, “the government would not hesitate to deal with anybody who tries to bring the disturbances to the state”.
