I read somewhere 2days ago that one of the "pension thieves" who confessed in court that he connived with 3others to embezzle pension funds was given a jail sentence of 2years or a fine of 250,000naira.
That's the point where I got lost, 2years imprisonment? Or a fine of 250,000naira?
I don't just get it!
This must be the biggest joke of the year. Well, the year just began and there could be more.
But I sincerely don't understand how things work around here anymore.
You embezzle billions of naira and you get such a sentence? Tell me where else things like this happen! Only in Nigeria I guess.
In what way is the government tackling corruption? In what way? I ask again!
I may not have a full grasp of politics in Nigeria but I don't think sentencing someone who connived with 3others to embezzle public fund to the tune of over 20billion naira should be given such a sentence!
And you say "yahoo yahoo" boys should stop their "runs"? or kidnappers should stop what they do? Or shop keepers should stop short-changing their customers? You must be kidding!
This sentence only goes to show that the government of the day has no intentions to tackle corruption. It is not on their agenda and I don't "smell" it coming up anytime soon!
Its sad but truth must be told. Nigeria's Judiciary is dead! It is stone dead; dead dead!
I'm sorry to say, but until corruption is dealt with at the top and the thieves made to pay fully for their crimes, Nigeria will never make any meaningful headway.
*End of rant*
