Few hours ago the super eagles of Nigeria recorded a historic victory over the stallions of Burkina faso and the whole of Nigeria was agog with celebrations.
Yes, once you're victorious people tend to develop interest in you, nobody wants to be associated with a failure.
To those who gave up on the super eagles before the end of the game, a big shame on you (including me).
Like its said in sports, "its not over until its over". Anything can happen when you least expect, the tables could turn at the last minute.
As much as we all know it is not over until it is over, very few of us really believe in this statement, a perfect example is our reactions during the AFCON 2013 games.
Midway into the group stages, a lot of Nigerians had given up on the team because they didn't win any of their first two matches. Only a few felt it was too early to give up.
You can't possibly blame those who felt Nigeria was out even before the group stages ended because as they say "first impression matters a lot".
Nevertheless, the super eagles of Nigeria scaled through even with our un-belief.
When we thought they were down and out they proved us wrong and came out victorious.
Yes, it wasn't an easy ride, the super eagles had "tough" teams with world-class players to face yet they pulled through.
This goes to say that as long as you're still in the race the last thing you should think of is giving up. No, it shouldn't even be an option.
In every of our endeavour, we should be confident in our abilities, it doesn't matter what the tide says, we should know that once there is life there is hope.
All we need to do is put in that extra effort.
People's opinion of you shouldn't be the determining factor of your success.
Look beyond your present condition, be strong, be courageous, focus on the trophy, be diligent in your duties and trust God to see you through.
Like the super eagles of Nigeria, you may not have started well; all you need do is realise consciously that you started wrongly, turn down the volume of discouraging voices around you, make deliberate efforts to correct the mistakes of the past and ensure they are not repeated in the future.
Final counsel is this: Whatever you do, give in your best and always remember its not over until its over.

Yes this is a big lesson for us to learn and should apply in our daily lives. Don't give up
