Mararaba illegal structures to be demolished Monday ~Al-Makura
Illegal structures in Mararaba along the Abuja -Keffi dual carriage will be demolished on Monday, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has said.
The governor who made the announcement when he paid a working visit to the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB) Karu local government secretariat and the Nasarawa Geographic Information System (NAGIS), also said the state will same day start the enforcement of new development control policies in the state.
“We are calling on those trading by the side of the road that cause gridlock and traffic congestion to move out of the way because as from Monday we will ensure that traffic is allowed to move smoothly, this is why we are coming back to the site of construction at Karu-Panda Road to reduce congestion on the road.
“I am here to give you the support and morale because you are going to work for 24 hours to ensure that our new land reform policy become successful, so that very soon there will be no difference between the environment situation in Abuja and ours,” Al-Makura said.
He said his administration would ensure that all development are in consonant with the best practices.
“We cannot afford to be a slum, by next week we will begin full implementation of our land reforms; there would be a lot of demolitions and sanitizations,” he said.
