Air force unveils commercial airliner today
A commercial airliner procured by the Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited (AETSL) will be unveiled today.
The company which is a subsidiary under Nigerian Air Force Holdings Company (NAFHC) was formed to develop local capacity to handle complex level of aircraft maintenance leveraging on private sector funding.
Air force spokesman, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas said the airliner was handed over to the company and will be unveiled at a ceremony in Abuja today.
The Managing Director of AETSL Air Vice Marshal Alkali Mamu said in an interview with Daily Trust recently in Lagos that the new airliner will commence transporting troops from African countries and thereafter expand to the transportation of passengers and cargo.
He said more aircraft will be delivered before the end of the year.
AETSL recently reactivated some Alpa jets, C-130, Do-228 and is currently installing IP based electronic surveillance and security platforms for the airports in Akwa Ibom and Osun state.
